Talk show host Tamron Hall has debuted her novel called "As the Wicked Watch". This book is expected to be the first in a series of books focused around crime reporter Jordan Manning who uses her Master's degree in Forensic Science to help her investigate the murders of Black women in Chicago.
I think this book comes at a good time in our society when there is a lot of scrutiny in regards to Black and Indigenous women who are missing and/or murdered with subpar investigations on their behalf. It's a subject that comes up often and especially when our television sets are blown up with images of missing White people while missing Black folks struggle to get air time and the day-to-day coverage that could make a difference in their rescue.
It was only a matter of time before this issue became part of our literary space. It is lived experience if anything else and I'm sure this story and subsequent stories of Tamron Hall's main character Jordan Manning will resonate with readers.
Enjoy!
